Real Life Romantic Yorkshire Wedding Story

Real Life Romantic Yorkshire Wedding Story

Yes it’s that time again and this week we have a wonderful truly inspiring guest blog post from our lovely real life bride & groom Nikki & Robert. We love the peacock colours chosen by Nikki which work so well with their beloved Yorkshire white rose. The talented Nikki made her own wedding cake, table plan & guest place names, favours & so much more – well done Nikki!

Let the story begin……….. We got married at our local church, St Paul’s which is 2 minutes from our house in Barnsley.

The Reception was held at Wortley Hall in Sheffield

What was your wedding style, theme colour? We chose a Peacock theme to start and it grew from there. We wanted to incorporate Yorkshire so chose the Yorkshire white rose to go with it, plus is was Yorkshire Day the day before we got married. We used the navy/royal blue from the eye of the peacock feathers and added greens in the foliage to set it off. I chose Pearl details to match my jewellery.

How did you style your bridesmaids & how many did you have?My bridesmaids grew from having two adults (my two best friends) to having three little girls and two boys. We wanted it to be a family thing so I asked my little second cousin to be Flower Girl and then my twin cousins and Roberts twin niece and nephew, They were all the same age and both boy and girls twins…I couldn’t resist the symmetry!

Special touches? I think we had so many things I loved but my favourite was the favours. Everyone took them home, I was expecting some left over but there were none! I made glass coasters decoupage with peacocks and our wedding date.

I wish I’d known that the blow up guitars would be such a hit….I got 20…could have done with twice as many as they were a massive hit at the disco…Also I wish we hadn’t made our first dance so complicated. Robert didn’t feel confident dancing so we went for lessons. The company we used did a lovely routine for us and we mastered it….but in hindsight something a bit cuddlier would have been nice as the photos just show massive concentration on our faces!!
